Synology used CES 2023 to launch their latest small NAS, the DS723+. The 2-bay Synology DS723+ more or less takes the DS923+ we just reviewed and shrinks it to a smaller starting footprint. The DS723+ supports an optional 5-bay expansion unit, add-on 10GbE, and is the second Synology NAS to support NVMe storage pools, though itu2019s still limited to Synology SSDs only. The DS723+ uses the AMD Ryzen R1600 dual-core (4-thread), processor and comes with 2GB DRAM, expandable to 32GB (DS923+ starts with 4GB). The DS723+ is powered by the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, which provides a flexible all-in-one solution for data management, synchronization, backup, and surveillance. It offers reasonable performance, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 471/225 MB/s. It also comes with two Gigabit RJ-45 ports, which can be bonded using Link Aggregation for automatic network failover and load balancing. As noted, thereu2019s an optional 10GbE slot that uses Synologyu2019s mini card. In addition, the DS723+ comes with a range of data protection and integrity features, including snapshots, file, and folder-level data restoration, a flexible storage quota system, and file self-healing. It also offers a range of backup solutions, including Active Backup Suite, Snapshot Replication, Hyper Backup, and C2 Storage for Hyper Backup.,
